Community Guidelines

Respect and consent

• Ask before you push a conversation somewhere personal — numbers, other apps, photos, meeting up.
• No means no, and silence means no. Repeatedly messaging someone who has not replied is harassment.
• Do not send sexual messages or images to someone who has not asked for them.

No harassment or threats

• No threats of violence, no intimidation, no following someone across the app after they have blocked or unmatched you.
• No coordinated pile-ons, and no encouraging others to target someone.
• No blackmail, including threatening to share private photos or messages.

No hate or discriminatory abuse

Attacks based on caste, religion, region, language, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability or appearance are not welcome here, whether they are aimed at one person or a whole group. Slurs get an account removed.

No fake profiles or impersonation

• Use photos that are actually of you, and recent enough to recognise.
• Do not use someone else's photos, a celebrity's photos, or AI-generated faces.
• Do not claim a college, a job or an age that is not yours.
• One account per person.

No scams or requests for money

Never ask another member for money, a loan, a top-up, a gift card or crypto — and never send any. Investment tips, part-time job offers and “my account is locked, can you help” stories are the usual openers, and they are all reportable.

No explicit or illegal content

• No nudity or sexually explicit photos, on your profile or in chat.
• No content involving minors, in any form. This is reported to the authorities.
• No drugs, weapons, self-harm content, or anything else that breaks the law.

No spam

No advertising, no affiliate links, no bulk identical messages, no bots, and no driving people to another platform.

Respect privacy

What someone tells you on BuzzUp is theirs. Do not screenshot and share their profile, photos or messages, and do not post anyone's phone number, address, hostel, timetable or workplace.

Keep your profile accurate

Your age, college and interests are how people decide whether to talk to you. Keep them honest and keep them current — and say what you are actually looking for, whether that is friends, a Garba partner, group plans or dating.

Reporting a violation

Every profile, comment and chat has a Report action. Pick a reason, add anything a moderator should know, and submit. You can block the person in the same place — you do not have to wait for the report to be reviewed. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

What can happen to an account

Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before:

• content is removed;
• a photo is taken down;
• a verification badge is withdrawn;
• the account is suspended while it is reviewed;
• the account is permanently banned.

Serious violations — threats, scams, sexual content involving minors — skip straight to a ban. If you think a decision about your account was wrong, write to [support email not configured yet].
